Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail (ABFRL) has formed a strategic alliance with Europe’s leading retail chain, Paris-based Galeries Lafayette, to develop luxury stores that are specialized e-commerce platforms in India. Galeries Lafayette is the largest premium French department store business in Europe. Its main store is on Boulevard Haussmann (Paris), although it also operates around France and other countries.
India is now home to a group of young, wealthy customers who have access to the world and are eager to spend money on more luxurious items. The collaboration with Galeries Lafayette is a resounding affirmation of India’s importance as a market for luxury goods on a global scale and as a potential source of future growth for luxury brands.
Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail (ABFRL) will establish Galeries Lafayette luxury stores in Delhi and Mumbai, bringing together 200+ designer and premium brands. These luxury stores will showcase premium brands, with a 90,000 sqft store in Mumbai set to open in 2024. 65,000-square-foot shop in Delhi planned to open in 2025, will be located at DLF Emporio. It is one of the largest luxury malls in India. According to industry projections, India’s luxury goods market will be valued at $8.5 billion in 2022, up from $6 billion in 2021.
